There a many products available to help achieve your treatment goals.

Neuromodulators – medications that affect the facial muscles

Since 2001 Botox® Cosmetic has been one of the most popular, safest and predictable anti-aging injections to prevent, soften and sometimes erase wrinkles caused by the contraction of the underlying muscles of facial expression. In recent years other companies have introduced similar products such as Dysport and Xeomin®. Katherine has expertise using all three products and will be happy to explain which product is best suited to meet your treatment goals.

When tiny amounts of a neuromodulator are precisely injected into the muscle being treated, the muscle is temporarily relaxed to a point where it functions only very weakly or not at all. The result is a refreshed and younger appearance with your wrinkles much less noticeable or in many circumstances simply gone! Neuromodulators seem to magically turn back the hands of time and, if used on a regular basis, can even help prevent the formation or deepening of wrinkles as well.

Botox Injection ProcedureWhile many areas of the face can be managed with a neuromodulator, the frown lines between your eyes (glabella) are by far the most commonly treated area. Other areas managed this way are the horizontal forehead lines and the crow's feet (squint lines).

The medication is administered using an ultra-fine needle with minimal discomfort. Following your injection, there is some mild redness that disappears quickly. In most instances, there is no evidence of any sort that you have had a treatment. The medication will begin to work over the next few days following your treatment and, depending upon which medication was injected, its maximal effect will be seen 5 to 10 days later. A follow-up appointment is made 2 weeks after your treatment to assess your results and ensure your satisfaction.

Once the medication is cleared from your body, the muscle will gradually begin to function again. The results typically last between three and six months.

Dermal Fillers

While neuromodulators affect the underlying muscles, dermal fillers are products injected under or into the skin that replace lost volume or fill lines and wrinkles associated with aging. These gel-like products are also injected using very fine needles or cannulae and are extremely safe and versatile.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is natural substance found in our skin, joints and even our eyes. Hyaluronic acid filler is not permanent but eventually is eliminated by the body, breaking down gradually over time. The typical duration a hyaluronic acid treatment is six to eighteen months depending upon the product used and the site of injection.

Advantages of Hyaluronic Acid nonsurgical injections

Katherine uses a global approach to achieve a natural and balanced result. She strongly believes that "less is more". Hyaluronic acids are commonly injected into the cheeks and hollows under the eyes, naso-labial folds and puppet lines, the temples, jawlines and chins, lips and the fine lines around the mouth. Volume can even also be restored in aging hands, earlobes and labia.

Products in the hyaluronic acid family include Juvederm Voluma®, Perlane®, Restylane® and the Teosyal® line of products. Depending on your specific needs, Katherine will use her expertise to determine which products are required to achieve your desired result.

Stimulants

Stimulants unleash our body's own ability to regenerate and repair itself. For many patients it has become an essential part of their long-term rejuvenation plan. Stimulants stimulate the production of our own collagen to restore structure, support and volume. It also promotes the regeneration of the tissues resulting in a healthier, smoother and more elastic texture of the skin.

The two most common medications are...

Poly L-lactic acid Your blood plasma (PRP)
Ideal for providing deep tissue support and structure Regenerates the superficial texture and elasticity of your skin

Poly L-lactic acid (PAP)

Sculptra® progressively restores lost collagen creating a very natural look with results often lasting for years. The positive changes seen after treatment with Sculptra® are gradual and become noticeable a few weeks after injection. Patients typically return for reassessment two months later. At that time, additional treatments may be offered to continue the rebuilding process in the areas injected. Once your goals have been achieved and the volume your desire has been restored, a maintenance injection of Sculptra® once yearly is suggested to maintain your beautiful natural result.

Sculptra non-surgical injection benefits

Because the results from Sculptra® often last for years, it is a very cost effective alternative to dermal fillers. Ideal areas of the face best managed with Sculptra® include the temples, the area in front of the ears, the jawline, cheeks and chin.

Sculptra® is truly an amazing product and Katherine is very fortunate to have received advanced training from the world's leading authority Dr. Danny Vleggaar.

Your own blood plasma - Platelet Rich Plasma (PAP)

Regen Plasma is a procedure that separates the patient's own blood for injection into the superficial layer of the skin. This treatment is considered the most natural procedure available. Only the plasma portion of your blood is used. The platelets and fibrin that are injected stimulate the production of new cells and collagen. The result is an amazing regeneration of skin leading to the smoothing of imperfections such as facial lines, wrinkles, loose skin, and scars.

Different Products & ProceduresDuring a treatment session, a small sample of blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge to isolate the plasma from the red blood cells from the sample. This is done in a sterile manner according the highest standards of patient care and safety. The plasma portion of the patient's blood is then carefully transferred into special syringes and injected into the facial area. A typical treatment lasts around 30 minutes. There is mild swelling following a treatment that typically lasts from 2 to 3 days.

Each injection session results in an improvement of about 25-30% of the treatment goals. The results are gradual and cumulative. Best of all, the results are extremely natural. Most patients require a total of three treatment session spaced two months apart and one maintenance treatment yearly.

Katherine will carefully explain how Regen Plasma can be used to help achieve your treatment goals. Every patient's plan is customized according to their desires and lifestyle. The amount injected, the timing of treatments and the technique used for injecting the plasma will vary from patient to patient.
